Neat and new to Me

Unlike my Unsung Heroes series, which features permanent collection products I’ve known and loved a long time, the Neat and new to Me series showcases permanent collection products that slipped under my radar for a while, but then I discovered them! — and now I think they’re neat and new to me.

You know when you’re driving along and you see someone on the corner waving and spinning one of those huge signs for the discounted furniture warehouse or the little Caesar’s $2 Tuesday Pizza Special? I feel like I should be doing the same thing next to a Clinique counter, except my sign would read, “EYE makeup LOVERS, IF YOU’RE HELLA TIRED, GO HERE!”

You don’t even know how much their Chubby Sticks have been rocking my world lately. They’re perfect for makeup minimalist mode, or if you haven’t been sleeping well lately (seriously, I go to the bathroom at least four times a night), or if you just want to wear eye makeup but don’t want to spend half your morning blending sh*t out on your lids.

My favorite three shades are Bountiful Beige, Ample Amber and Fuller Fudge, and if you’ve been visiting the blog this week, you may have already seen them in action in this quick blush tip post or when I talked about those Sephora beauty Classes.

Lightweight, semi-sheer cream shadows in a twist-up stick, they’re $17 each and not too heavily pigmented or shimmery, which I really, really like when I don’t want to deal with intense blending.

I haven’t wanted to spend a ton of time doing my eyes lately, so these Chubby Sticks have been SO great because the colors are so easy to blend and merge into each other.

If I’m just going to be wearing one shade, I’ll run the stick like a crayon across my lids and smooth out the edges with a finger, but if I’m wearing two or more, I’ll use a MAC 217.

They take about five minutes to set, so they aren’t the kind of cream shadows that dry the instant they touch your skin. With these, I have time to buff and blend, so it’s not a battle against the clock, and I don’t have to pull and tug hard on my lids.

As for the wear time? SO EPIC. They’ll last a full eight or nine hours on my combination dry/oily lids, and I don’t even have to involve NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof.

Yeah, I can skip primer with ’em! just the Chubbies and I’m good.

I’ve been wearing and loving an eye look lately with Ample Amber from my lash line up to my brow bone, Fuller Fudge in the outer corners and Bountiful beige as an inner corer highlight (oh, and Bountiful beige also doubles as a highlighter). then I’ll tight line my upper lashes with Chanel 88 Noir Intense, smudge MAC Costa Riche along my lower lash and water lines and load up on mascara, all of which takes about 10 minutes…which is a lot quicker than doing a 30-minute eye look.

These and a bunch of other colors are available now at Clinique counters and online. highly recommended!
