The other day I was enjoying this interview that appeal journalist Sali Hughes did with my makeup spirit animal, Sir John, a.k.a Beyonce’s makeup artist, a.k.a a living makeup legend, as well as Sali asked Sir John what made him autumn in like with beauty.
I’ve been believing about this a great deal lately.

Sir John stated that for him, appeal was enjoying his mom, a makeup minimalist, put on her makeup every morning… For me, that wasn’t the situation since my mommy truly wasn’t a makeup person. (I know, we’re so different!) She didn’t truly wear a great deal of it, as well as I didn’t have any type of sisters or close aunts or other household members to enjoy put on their makeup, however I was still always thinking about makeup.

Oh, as well as here’s one more indication of the times: I don’t keep in mind seeing a great deal of diversity in the how-to articles. Like, hooded lids? What’s that?! I would try eyeshadow tutorials as well as question what I was doing wrong since when I put shadow in my crease, it didn’t look anything like what Cameron Diaz was doing, LOL! Oh, as well as the hair how-tos were all produced women with stick directly hair, so once again I would question why they wouldn’t work on my wavy, unruly hair.
One thing I would do is tear out pages with photos of makeup I liked as well as tuck them away for future reference, as well as I still do it today! I discover old split out pages in the most random places…
It’s a bit unfortunate to me that print publishing isn’t what it utilized to be, since I still keep in mind exactly how interesting it was to get all my appeal magazines every month as well as dive into them. I hope they stick around a while longer.
So, yeah, magazines fueled my like for beauty!
